What to ask your kiddo...January 15th Edition

What a busy week! Your students are working hard and growing at an amazing rate. Their writing is maturing and their math skills are becoming more and more solid. Grades were updated this week on Home Access Center- please monitor them.

Some things to ask your kiddo this week, include:

  • What is MobyMax? Show me your log-on info and let's look at it together. (Your students are welcome to work on it from home!)
  • 4th grade parents: May I see your myth? Let's work on it together.
  • Both grades: How would you like to get going on your research project?
  • Can you show me how to write equivalent fractions?
  • What kind of supplies do you think your settlers brought to the new world?
  • 4th grade: Who is Warren Faidley?
  • 5th grade: Who is Mahalia Jackson?
  • Why do we have Monday off of school?
Have a wonderful three day weekend- dare to dream and remember to help others along the way!

Back At It In 2016! January 8, 2016

Well, that is a bit embarrassing! No blog since Thanksgiving??? Just shows how busy we are and how hard our students are working- no time to take a break and update.

I hope that 2016 has started beautifully for you and that you and your student are looking forward to doing research on the person they have selected.

Please keep up with AR Goals, book projects and practicing math facts.

Here are a few things to ask your child about:

  • What colony or settlement are they part of in social studies?
  • Is their group collaborating effectively? Why or why not?
  • Quiz them on their math facts- multiplication and division.
  • How does one create equivalent fractions?
  • What type of writing did they work on this week?
  • How is their literature circle going?
  • Are they being a good citizen? Are they using the THINK principles in class and outside of class?
Have a fabulously wonderful weekend!
